Vaginal Hysterectomy for Benign Nonprolapsed Uterus-Initial Experience
نویسنده
چکیده
OBJECTIVE To determine the feasibility and safety of vaginal hysterectomy for benign nonprolapsed uteri. METHODS Eighty consecutive women with nonprolapsed uteri requiring hysterectomy for benign uterine conditions, without suspected adnexal disease, were treated prospectively by vaginal hysterectomy. Operating time, estimated blood loss, surgical techniques, operative complications, conversion to laparotomy when needed and length of hospital stay were recorde d for each case . RESULTS Vaginal hy sterectomy was successful in 76 women (95%). Morcellat ion, hemisection, myomectomy, were done in 60 cases (75%).The operating time, est im ated blood loss, conversion to laparotomy were directly proportional to the size of the uterus. Two bladder injuries occurred; one w as repaired transvaginally and the other one required laparotomy. Three women needed blood transfusion. Four conversions to laparotomy were necessary. CONCLUSION Vaginal hysterectomy is a safe and effective procedure for benign nonprolapsed uteri especially when uterine size is less than 12 weeks.

Adnexectomy During Vaginal Hysterectomy for Benign Indications Using Bipolar Hemostasis of Lateral Pedicles and Transvaginal Adnexa Mobilization
Background: Using coagulation techniques to achieve hemostasis of lateral pedicles, or a fiberoptic light source to improve visibility in a narrow operating field, or transvaginal mobilization of adhered adnexa, may facilitate more salpingo-oophorectomies after vaginal hysterectomies for benign indications. Objectives: The aim of this research was to study the feasibility of adnexectomy during ...

Objectives: 1) To study the feasibility of performing and outcome of vaginal hysterectomy in uteri without any descent and associated with benign ovarian tumour. 2) To compare the outcome of vaginal hysterectomy over hysterectomy performed through abdominal route and laparoscopically. Methodology: Three hundred (300) patients requiring pan hysterectomy for benign ovarian tumours were studied wi...
متن کاملImplications of Hysterectomy on Vaginal Route in Gynecologic Pathology
IMPLICATIONS OF HYSTEROCTOMY ON VAGINAL ROUTE IN GYNECOLOGIC PATHOLOGY (Abstract): Vaginal hysterectomy was mentioned before our era by Soranus of Ephesus, and it is one of the most frequent surgical interventions in gynecologic practice; performed for the first time by Sauter of Constance, in 1822, who practiced a vaginal hysterectomy without ligation of vessels, carrying out the hemostasis wi...
متن کاملNon Descent Vaginal Hysterectomy (NDVH): Personal Experience in 158 Cases
Aims: To report personal experience of NDVH in 158 cases. Methods: All patients requiring hysterectomy for benign gynecological disorders who did not have any uterine descent were recruited for this study. NDVH was performed in cases where the uterus was mobile, with size not exceeding 20 weeks gestation, and with adequate vaginal access. Morcellation techniques like bisection, myomectomy, wedg...
